Body Transformation Bootcamp

This bootcamp is comprised of several exercises designed to target the entire body and is sure to give even the experienced a fantastic workout. But don’t let the word bootcamp intimidate you, this class is designed for all experience levels. Take the class at a fast pace or slow down your movements for a great recovery workout. Deadlift Academy

The Deadlift. Quite possibly the single best compound movement with the most application and benefit to real life…if done correctly. In this Deadlift clinic you will learn the do’s and don’ts for performing this exercise, the benefits this exercise has to offer, as well as proper technique for variations of this exercise.

Foam Roller Essentials

Learn how this wonderful tool can be used to apply self-massage techniques for those tight areas and improve your overall range of motion. Fundamentals of Strength Training

A full body workout that is different every day. You will target all the major muscle groups that allow you to safely push, pull, squat, and hinge. Proper form and engagement of the core will be emphasized to ensure your body is ready to handle the stress that you put on it every day. This class is a prerequisite for Valerie’s Strength Training for Endurance Athletes and should be taken prior to signing up for that class.

Happy Hour Power

Learn the basics of the three major lifts: Squat, Deadlift and Bench Press. Whether you are a novice lifter who wants to learn the ropes, or someone who has been performing these movements and wants to get stronger, this class will provide valuable insights on optimizing form and technique. You will also learn the best auxiliary lifts for improving performance and how to structure your workouts to build strength, endurance, or size.

High Intensity Interval Training

High Intensity Interval Training is a workout that alternates between intense bursts of activity with weights and movement with limited recovery time between each exercise to push your body into the aerobic zone. A challenging and effective 45 minute workout for creating muscle while burning fat. All experience levels are welcome!

Kettlebell 101

If you’re really looking to challenge your entire body and improve your strength and stamina, you should definitely check this course out. In this course we will learn proper technique for performing the ever popular “swing” and “turkish getup”. It will incorporate several other exercises all with the Russian kettlebell for a killer workout to fire up all those muscles you didn’t even know you had.

**Starting in January 2018  due to the popularity of this class, new students are required to take one hour of personal training with Jeremy before attending. This hour allows Jeremy to assess each individual in order to make sure they can safely perform kettlebell work in a group setting.**

Olympic Weightlifting Basics

This class will give each participant a basic knowledge of the movements, positions, and subtleties involved in the Clean and Jerk and the Snatch. Completion of this class is necessary before graduating to the Olympic Weightlifting for Sport Performance class.

Olympic Weightlifting for Sport Performance

Olympic style weightlifting builds power, coordination, agility, body awareness, and overall strength for athletes of all sporting realms and will yield noticeable improvements in sport specific performance. Each workout will include variations of the classic Olympic lifts as well as focused strength and accessory exercises to round out the session. Each participant must complete and Olympic Basics Class with Brian in order to attend.

R n’ R Hour

Typically meaning rest and relaxation, we will be doing no such thing as we RECHARGE ourselves after a week of work or a weekend of play and REGAIN our fitness. Designed to be dynamic and adaptable, this class can be modified to allow you to have a great active recovery workout, a challenging workout to test your limits, or a general workout to get you back into the shape.

Strength Training for Endurance Athletes

This class is designed to improve strength and conditioning for enhanced athletic performance. The class will focus on developing a strong foundation of fitness to help you perform better while engaging in athletic events. Expect to get a good dose of high intensity cardiovascular training as well. Fundamentals of Strength Training is recommended before enrolling in this class.

Strength Training for Runners

This one hour small group class focuses on strength training for runners. A typical training session will start with a warm up of stability exercises and running drills. The main set will use sandbags, weights, TRX, and medicine balls to strengthen the legs, core, and stabilizer muscles.

Tabata Tuesday

Originally invented and studied in Japan by Dr. Izumi Tabata, Tabata style training has been shown to significantly improve anaerobic (short duration energy system) capacity in less time than traditional conditioning methods. A Tabata workout is defined by performing 20 seconds of work followed by 10 seconds of rest for 8 rounds. It may not sound like much, but if you do this right, it could be the hardest 4 minutes of exercise you’ve ever experienced. Come ready to sweat!

Climbing Technique, Economy, and Endurance

This class will improve your overall climbing skills with attention to technique, economy, endurance, and other factors. Focusing primarily on technique, we will address footwork, body movement/awareness, grip strength, endurance and movement sequencing. This class takes place in the Altitude Training Room on the ClimbStation climbing treadwall. Due to the altitude factor we are able to add a cardiovascular element, supplementing the class with the benefits of altitude training. Small class size allows for constant interaction with instructor and work on specific and individual goals.

High Altitude Interval Training

A cardio training class conducted in our altitude room. Altitude for this class will be 11,000’. No previous altitude training experience required. All fitness levels are welcome. This class will consist of cardio intervals from 10 seconds to 10-20 minutes. The class will be different each session and will also include some strength training components. If you want to boost your cardiovascular power, this is your class. When you combine altitude training and intervals you have a stack of research showing substantial gains in VO2 Max, Anaerobic Threshold, fat metabolism and other key physiological components for a strong cardiovascular system. Regardless of your sport or goals, you are invited to join instructor Daniel Silver in this unique class.

Kettlebells by Industrial Strength

Industrial Strength’s coaching staff is the most tenured and experienced in the Portland area when it comes to kettlebell training. With every instructor on staff being certified through StrongFirst, (the gold standard in kettlebell instruction), you are guaranteed to be in good hands.

In addition to being a great stand-alone exercise program, kettlebell training is undoubtedly some of the best cross-training you can do for many sports. If you are a climber, runner, cyclist, grappler or martial artist, or you participate in any other wide range of sports or outdoor activities, kettlebell training is just the thing to help take your performance to the next level.

*PREREQUISITES*

A top priority for every coaching staff should be to set its trainees up for success starting from day one. With that in mind, Industrial Strength has a required on-boarding process before beginning kettlebell classes – this ensures both your safety, as well as Industrial’s ability to run the classes in a way that will deliver the results everyone is looking for. The process looks like this:

1. Get clearance on baseline pain free movement and certain hip and shoulder mobility minimums. If your clinician at Evolution is familiar with the FMS (Functional Movement Screen) they can do this for you, otherwise we will do it in your first private lesson. If the initial assessment finds any restrictions, Industrial Strength will work with you and/or your clinician to get you moving better and without pain so that you can start classes ASAP.

2. Go through a brief series of 1-on-1 sessions to get you ready for classes. In these sessions you will learn fundamental kettlebell exercises (swings, get ups, squats, etc.) as well as the right weights for you to use once you get into class. The best way to get started is via a REQUIRED 3 pack of of 1-on-1 sessions at a big discount compared to normal rates – just $150 for the initial three lessons (Portland area residents only, limit one per person).

Rock Steady Boxing

A small group exercise class designed to reduce, reverse, or delay symptoms for people suffering from Parkinson’s Disease.

*An Initial Evaluation is required before attendance to Rock Steady Boxing. It is $75 and includes a pair of gloves and hand wraps which are yours to keep.
